Different User Roles

Each WordPress user is assigned a Role. Roles are designed to give the site owner the ability to control what users can and cannot do within the site.

To view all the users, click on the user tab on the right-hand side. Here you will see everyone who has access to the website in this instance. Each user can be assigned different user roles. There are 5 roles in total:

  1. Administrator: has access to all the administration features within a single site
  2. Editor: someone who can publish and manage posts including the posts of other users
  3. Author: someone who can publish and manage their own posts only
  4. Contributor: somebody who can write and manage their own posts but cannot publish them
  5. Subscriber: somebody who can only manage their profile
